"When my daughter was about seven years old, she asked me one day what I did at work. I told her I worked at the college - that my job was to teach people how to draw. She stared back at me, incredulous, and said, 'You mean they forget?" (Howard Ikemoto)
What this quote tells me: It's really confidence or believing in yourself that any art class would teach you (learning skills and technique only help you gain more confidence; you know how to move a pencil on paper). With art you are completely free to create ANYTHING without limitation. What's holding you back from claiming that freedom? If you're not interested, that's one thing. Ok.
Or maybe your definition of art is different. (In which case you have an opportunity to decide if this definition that still fits you). Anything hindering you from claiming that freedom or taking time to explore it are more about your own beliefs and definitions. That's why art therapy is so powerful. When you work through limiting beliefs on one subject (creating art), interestingly, you begin to unlock it with other things. Beliefs are beliefs across the board.
I'm not saying it's a magic bullet; it's a process. But what are we in a hurry to get to? (I ask myself this question). Once we finish one thing, don't we just turn around to solve something else?
I am in love with the incremental steps of the process.
Your unique vision is important to the whole of consciousness.
It's my passion to help you to find a way to give yourself permission to be free.
